La Escuela Nacional de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica (ENERC) nació con la Ley de Cinematografía que creó el Instituto Nacional de Cine en 1957. Además del organismo que se fundaba, se estipulaba en el Art. 17, inciso F, la creación y participación en el sostenimiento de un Centro Experimental destinado a la formación de cineastas, que se puso en marcha en el año 1965, cuando la Dirección del Instituto Nacional de Cinematografía era ejercida por el Lic. Alfredo J. Grassi.
Actualmente la normativa legal vigente (Ley 17.711 t.o. 2001 y Decreto 1536/2002) prevé su mantenimiento.

En 1999, el Decreto Nro. 201 modificaba el nombre de Centro por el de Escuela, reconociéndose en la denominación de esta entidad la esencial característica de su actividad, la de ser “una unidad de enseñanza”.

Durante el transcurso de 40 años la ENERC, en su carácter de única Escuela Nacional dependiente del INCAA, ha continuado adquiriendo jerarquía y relevancia a nivel nacional e internacional, a través de los innumerables premios obtenidos por la participación en Festivales Nacionales e Internacionales en los que han concursado trabajos fílmicos de sus alumnos.

Entre las funciones más importantes podemos señalar:

• Fomentar la producción y/o coproducción con Instituciones Educativas Nacionales e Internacionales y otros Organismos del Estado.
• Organizar y mantener una cinemateca y videoteca con el material producido por la ENERC.
• Participar en eventos nacionales e internacionales de Escuelas de Cine.
• Desarrollar seminarios, talleres y conferencias en relación con la materia cinematográfica y audiovisual.
• Impulsar la suscripción de acuerdos de cooperación e intercambios recíprocos con escuelas, universidades e instituciones culturales del país y del extranjero.
• Promover la actualización y el mantenimiento de una Biblioteca especializada en cine nacional y extranjero.

Pero su principal objetivo está concentrado en la formación y capacitación integral de profesionales, en las diferentes especialidades que integran la currícula: Realización, Montaje, Guión, Fotografía, Producción y Sonido.

La formación teórica y práctica que se imparte al alumnado procura desarrollar, dentro del proceso de aprendizaje, una preparación y ejecución rigurosa, acorde con la realidad cinematográfica industrial de nuestro país. Por ello se cree necesario estimular la faz creativa de los futuros egresados, coordinando adecuadamente los conocimientos teóricos con una intensa ejercitación práctica, las que sumadas a su propio talento les permitan incorporarse seria y profesionalmente a la actividad cultural/industrial del medio cinematográfico y audiovisual.
Se promueve, en definitiva, un nivel de excelencia en la enseñanza y aprendizaje, ya que el mercado demanda profesionales jóvenes con alta capacitación, con creatividad y el talento suficiente como para hacer frente a una constante renovación en beneficio de la calidad de nuestra cinematografía.

The National School of Cinematographic Experimentation and Direction (ENERC) was born with Cinematographic Law that created The National Cinematographic Institute in 1957. Plus foundation of the Institute, on the Art. 17, inc. F, was stipulated the creation and taking part of the support of a Experimental Center pointed to filmmakers formation. In 1965 began to work, when the Direction of the The National Cinematographic Institute was managed by Lic. Alfredo J. Grassi.
Nowadays the current law (Ley 17.711 t.o. 2001 and Decreto 1536/2002) insure its maintenance.

In year 1999, the Decreto Nr. 201 modified the name of "Center" for "School", recognizing the entity denomination essencial characteristic of its activity, to be a “learing unit”.

For 40 years, the ENERC, as the only National School depending from the INCAA, has continuosly gained status and importance at a national and international level, through unnumbered achieved prizes on Natioanl and International Festivals for its students filmworks.

This are some of the most important actions:

• To promote production and co/productions with other National and International Educational Institutions and other government institutions.
• To organize and maintain a film-library and a video-library with the ENERC´s students filmworks.
• To take part of national and international events of Cinematographic Schools.
• To organize seminars, workshops and conferences on the cinematographic and audiovisual themes.
• To impel the subscription of cooperation and interchanges agreements with other schools, universities and cultural institutions of the country and of outside Argentina.
• To promote the upgrading and maintenance of a specialized Library on national and foreign cinema.

ENERC´s main objective is focus on professional formation and training, on the many specialties teached on this School: Direction, Edition, Screenwriting, Photography, Production and Sound.

The theoric and practical formation given to the student body try to develop, inside the learning process, a hard training and execution, according to the cinematographic industry reality of our country. For that cause, it´s necesary to stimulate the creative phase of the future graduates, coordinating correctly the theoric knowledge with a intense practice, plus the own talent allow them to incorporate serious and professionally to the cultural/industrial activity of the cinematographic and audiovisual field.
To promote, finally, a excelent level on teaching and learning, cause the labour market demands a high-stantard professional level, with enough creativity and talent to face a constant changing in benefit to our cinematographic quality.
